John S. Cooper

(1901-1991)

John S. Cooper represented Kentucky in the U.S. Senate for a total of 20 years. He was also a member of the Warren Commission, a captain in the U.S. army, and an ambassador to India. Throughout his public service career, he showed an enduring commitment to civil rights and a readiness to cross party lines in support of progressive legislation.
