Honorable Thomas R. Carper

Thomas R. Carper has been serving the people of Delaware for over 30 years. His first foray into public service was as state treasurer in 1976. He went on to serve five terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. He began his education at Ohio State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in economics, and then graduated from the University of Delaware with an MBA. While serving with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, he attained the rank of captain. He is currently a member of the U.S. Senate and vice chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council.
