Susan Goldwater Levine
Susan Goldwater Levine is among the most venerated figures in hospice. She is married to real estate developer Bill Levine, who shares her love of philanthropy generally and of hospice specifically. She is a board member at the National Association for Home Care & Hospice and chairman of its affiliated Hospice Association of America. A trained nurse and home care administrator, she married and cared for Senator Barry Goldwater until his death in 1998. Since 1994, she has been executive director of Hospice of the Valley (HOV), the nation's largest single site hospice. Under her leadership, HOV has grown to serve over 10,000 families each year, partnered with the Mayo Clinic, and established 16 inpatient hospice programs in the greater Phoenix area. She has been the recipient of many honors, including NAHC's Lifetime Achievement Award.
