Robert N. Butler, MD
Robert N. Butler, MD is involved in a broad spectrum of issues relating to seniors. A renowned physician, Butler has done groundbreaking research on dementia. He was the first director of the National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health and winner of a Pulitzer Prize for his book Why Survive--Being Old in America. In 1985 he founded the Department of Geriatrics at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, the first department of geriatrics in a U.S. medical school. He served as its chairman until 1995 when he became president and CEO of a research and education organization, the International Longevity Center-- USA.
