Patch Adams, M.D.
Dr. Hunter "Patch" Adams is a professional clown, author, and physician extraordinaire whose life inspired a film starring Robin Williams. Believing that, "laughter is the best medicine," he has devoted his life to helping others smile. Since graduating from the University of Virginia Medical School in 1971, he has traveled the world to entertain children in hospitals and orphanages. He also raised funds for Gesundheit!, a clinic, which he founded to provide free healthcare to the underprivileged. Thanks to his influence, 40 countries now have similar clinics, and the help they provide to those in need is no laughing matter.
