Ms. Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou is an internationally renowned author, artist, and activist. She has written ten best-selling books including I Know Why the Caged Birds Sing and Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water 'fore I Die. She has won a Pulitzer Prize, a National Book Award, and a Tony. In 1974, President Ford appointed her to the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission, and President Carter later invited her to serve on the Presidential Commission for the International Year of the Woman. She has been hailed as one of the great voices of contemporary literature for the beauty of her prose and ability to reach out to women everywhere.
