Ms. Kathleen Sebelius

Kathleen Sebelius was elected governor of Kansas in 2002, becoming the first daughter of a governor in U.S. history to be elected to that same position. Previously, she was Kansas insurance commissioner, a member of the Kansas legislature, and an advocate for domestic violence victims. As governor she is committed to making health care affordable by cutting paperwork. She's also made it easier for Kansans to get low-cost medicines from Canada and Europe and is working to help more businesses provide health insurance to their employees. In 2005, Time magazine named her one of the nation's top five governors.
