Hon. Howard M. Metzenbaum

Howard Metzenbaum has been a scholar, a lawyer, and an entrepreneur, who created Sun Newspapers and once owned the Cleveland Indians. He's best known for his 19 years serving Ohio in the U.S Senate. Among other things, he authored 19 laws protecting consumers during that time. His legislative activities spanned a variety of people-oriented issues, from the Brady Gun Law to the Food Labeling Act. He was also responsible for creating the first national advisory councils on Alzheimer's disease. Since leaving the Senate, he has served as chairman of the board of the Consumer Federation of America, an advocacy group that protects the rights of American consumers.
