Hugh Downs

Hugh Downs is a legend in broadcast journalism, who has clocked more hours on air than anyone else in TV history. He is famous for his work on The Today Show, The Tonight Show, and 20/20. Less well known is the support that he and his wife Ruth give to numerous causes, including literacy and hospice care, as well as the fact that he has a graduate degree in gerontology. He is chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Space Society, chairman of the Board of the US Committee for UNICEF, trustee of the Menninger Foundation, and past member of the NASA Advisory Council.
