Hon. Frank Church

(1924-1984)

Frank Church was U.S. Senator from Idaho for 24 years and a leading voice for civil rights, expanded benefits for seniors and equal rights for women. As chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he supported nuclear nonproliferation and opposed military involvement in Vietnam. His tenure as chairman of the Senate Committee on Aging led to a 20 percent Social Security increase and amendments to strengthen the Age Discrimination in Employment Act
